Vox Box Radio:
The Radio Station will be broadcast via the MCC servers from the Studio. During peak hours (20.00 – 0.00 hrs) there will be a programme of weekly shows delivered by the artists/labels/club nights associated with the studio.
The rest of the programming will be an automated archive containing material from associated artists, bands and if they are consenting customers of the studio. There will also be opportunities in the future for customers and youth/community groups involved with the studio to produce their own shows. In particular once the workshop programme has commenced we would look to produce a show presented by and featuring music produced by local youth organisations.
The running of the radio will be shared between James and Dave. We will record the weekly show on Monday at the studio with an engineer (either Andy or Matt) so that sound quality can be properly monitored. Also then editing/sound bites etc can added on site. Once the shows have been recorded and edited the shows will be added to the weekly programme to be broadcast at peak times. The order will be kept to the same weekly basis for continuity and so each show can build its fan base.
The website will be constructed around a simple model using Icecast mp3 broadcasting software. The site will have a bio of each of the shows with list of their artists and a brief description of their background. It will contain a forum divided into various sections such as general discussion, events listings etc. It will also have a live chat so artists can communicate with listeners while their shows are on air. There will also be programme listings so listeners can check show times.
Listeners will join for free and then they will be able to download the server and listen to the programmes at either a high speed 128kbps connection or a low speed 32kpbs connection to allow people with less effective internet connections to listen at a slightly lower quality.
There will also be the opportunity for advertising space to be sold to companies/organisations who wish to have their company logos/banners shown on the site.
